Final Piece

Using the pollution and environmental issues I looked into I have created four A5-sized illustrations of Goddesses. I have used a mix of watercolour, ink, fineliners, and acrylic pens to design them.

From left to right they are bush fires/ deforestation, air pollution, water pollution, and finally the ice caps melting. I believe my first two are the strongest out of this whole piece and are bold and eye-catching.

The bush fires and deforestation goddess i wanted to be burned and dying on one side to show how we are affecting nature in this world and how it will just burn away and create a broken world. While half of her is still healthy but can see what's ahead if something doesn't happen.

My air pollution Goddess i wanted to be being forced to smoke inhaling the fumes and toxins we have created being consumed and hidden by the smog. The symbol on her dress is also the elementary symbol for air.

The third goddess I wanted to look somewhat mermaid or sea creature like with oil-slicked hair that leads into the ocean showing what we don't see all the time among the sea life. I used the watercolours to dry and create muddy dirty looking water from pollution such as oil and human waste.

And lastly, I wanted the Icecaps Goddess to appear still and somewhat frozen unaware yet that she is melting and breaking away piece by piece. I made her have sharper edges to represent the ice that she is.
